- Rider must be able to maintain an average speed of 20 km/hr

The Sematan Off-Road Challenge

It was a fine day. Meeting place at Semarak before we drove off to Sematan. Berangkat kira-kira jam 7 pg dan sampai di pekan Sematan kira-kira jam 9 pg. Agak ramai juga yang turut serta dalam expedisi ini. Kumpulan kami yang diketuai oleh Hj Khaider seramai 22 orang dan kumpulan Ah Siong seramai 20 orang. Kami mula dengan berkayuh dari pekan Sematan sejauh 5 km dan masuk ke hutan dari Kpg Pueh. Total distance of the whole ride was 37 km. It took us 4 hrs cycling in the forest, gone through all the rocky road, sandy road, muddy single track route passing the rubber plantation, oil palm, padi fields, pepper fields, challenging rocky uphill and the muddy downhill and crossing rivers. We passed through longhouses and the best part was the pitstop at a beautiful Water Fall. At about 2.30pm we reached the end point at Palm Beach Resort, Sematan. Rilek sekejap cuci basikal dan group foto at the beach. Then we rode to Pasar Sematan for makan. It was really a great challenge and I enjoyed it very much. I realised that all the effort I have put into all these months since Nov 08 has built me up to a fitness level where I felt that I was fit enough for this expedition. Looking forward for more challenging off-road tracks in the near future.
